Tracey Mallett

Tracey Mallett is a well-known and highly recognized figure in the Pilates and barre industry—prolific, respected, and known globally for her innovative approach and inspiring teaching style. She is a world-renowned fitness and wellness expert, best-selling author of Sexy in 6 and Super Fit Mama, and the creator of the internationally popular workout, bootybarre, which helped put barre fitness on the map worldwide. With over 30 years in the fitness, barre, and Pilates industries, Tracey has built a career that blends classical principles with contemporary movement, empowering people worldwide through her work and on her own app PilatesBarreOndemand. Her career in the industry began in 1996, when she appeared on the prolific TV fitness series The Method Show on Fox Fit TV—the first time Pilates was put on video and a moment that introduced Fusion fitness to the wider industry. Since then, Tracey has been featured in leading publications such as Self Shape, L.A. Times, Women’s Health, Self, and many others, as well as on numerous television and social media shows sharing her expertise with global audiences. Born in the United Kingdom, Tracey began studying dance at the age of three and was later accepted into London’s premier theatre arts school, The Italia Conti Academy. It was during her training there that she was first introduced to Pilates and barre in London—and instantly fell in love. This early passion shaped the course of her future and inspired her lifelong commitment to the Pilates and barre industry.

Throughout her career, Tracey has had the honor of learning from and working alongside some of the greats in the Pilates world. Her biggest mentor and inspiration has been Rael Isacowitz, whose guidance shaped much of her approach to teaching. She has also had the privilege of learning from and or working alongside  Kathy Corey, Brent Anderson, Ron Fletcher, Jillian Hessel, Alan Herdman, and Karen Clippinger—all of whom have played a role in shaping the instructor and educator she is today. Over the decades, Tracey has given back to the next generation as a Balanced Body educator, training and mentoring new instructors. Through her own signature workshops, Pilates Next, she brings her deep experience in group Pilates formats to help instructors expand their skills, refine their teaching, and uplift the industry. She is also well known for her long-standing role as an instructor on PilatesAnytime, where she has been featured for the past 15 years, sharing her expertise with a global audience. As a former professional dancer and the owner of a successful physical therapy–based fitness studio for 25 years, Tracey deeply understands the athletic body and the importance of both performance and injury prevention. Her career has taken her to every corner of the globe, presenting signature workshops at major Pilates and fitness conferences, leading trainings, and creating programs that inspire both instructors and students.

Tracey’s commitment to health and resilience was tested when, ten years ago, she was diagnosed with a brain tumor—a life-changing moment. Thanks to prompt treatment, her own high level of fitness, a positive mindset, and the unwavering support of her family, she made a full recovery in record time. This experience deepened her passion for inspiring others to take charge of their health and embrace life to the fullest.

Today, Tracey lives in South Pasadena, California, with her husband and their two children, Amber and Ty. She continues to empower people around the world with her message that strength, vitality, and joy are the keys to living well—both inside and out
